Hello, I’m Marcy Day.

I’m an illustrator and painter originally from sunny southern California. I studied at the University of California Santa Cruz where I earned a BFA in painting. After college, I moved to Los Angeles and worked as an art buyer/photo producer at an advertising agency. After six years there, I quit my job to see the world by bicycle.

After two years of biking with my boyfriend (all the way from Vietnam to Turkey!), we decided to travel with just our backpacks and work along the way. I’ve painted everywhere from roadside coffee shops in Myanmar to yurts in Mongolia and the list keeps growing. In 2020, I finally settled in Portland, Oregon.

My work is inspired by my travels and women doing adventurous things - mostly surfing, biking, and hiking! I illustrate in a variety of mediums from gouache to watercolors, but mostly paint digitally on my iPad.

During our bike tour we took a short break in Bali to work on an iMessage sticker app featuring my paintings, which we released in November of 2016. It was subsequently featured by Apple and has been downloaded nearly half a million times. You can read more about it here.
